WEB MARKETING GUIDE

Our Web Marketing Guide will show you where best to invest your money in order to increase sales of your product or service. Unlike other companies, we're not going to try to sell you our help with buying Google Adwords, Adsense, or any other form of Pay-per-Click advertising, as if you needed such help in any case.

That would be like the shop assistant who approaches you and asks you if you need any help in selecting what you want to buy (as if) and then puts his or her hand in your pocket, just in case you need any help with finding your wallet!

There is a lot of guidance given by each search engine on how to successfully launch an advertising campaign using one of their pay-per-click (PPC) campaigns, although if you want some good advice then our advice is that you look at the alternative we offer and skip considering Pay-Per-Click altogether, as WebBlazers have a more powerful (and cheaper) way of getting the results you're looking for. If you absolutely must find out about PPC then you can read our Adwords Guide, Adsense Guide, and what we have to say about PPC in our Pay-per-Click Guide. We would like to alert you beforehand that this Web Marketing Guide, like all of the guides you'll find on this website are there to tell you things that neither other SEO companies, nor the search engines will tell you, because of their vested interest in making money out of your gullibility and that we can offer you a far BETTER alternative.

INTERNET MARKETING GUIDE

Our Internet Marketing Guide would simply not be complete if all we did was knock what everyone else is doing and left it at that. If you want to go into great depth on the subject of internet marketing, then there is no better place to start than with the web statistics published by Nielsen, called Nielsen Net Ratings, who publish the results of continuous intensive studies into web user behaviour.

If you're like me, and just want the bottom line, then read this page in its' entirety first as you'll find this Internet Marketing Guide will deliver the goods, bring you more customers, save you money, and more besides.

OUR

GUIDE TO INTERNET MARKETING

A Guide to Internet Marketing might go on and on about what you should do and what you shouldn't do; we've left the "shouldn't do's" (or traps to avoid) to our section on SEO MYTHS and the singlemost 'should do' is gradually revealed and expanded on in the next section of this guide to internet marketing.

NET MARKETING GUIDE

I should apologise for keeping you waiting, but if you've read this far then you've earned the right to the information I'm about to share with you in this Net Marketing Guide.

Consider this: 'Natural Search Results' (or listings) elicit more clicks than pay-per-click advertising; at least that's true of the world's most popular and powerful search engine Google where most of the action is. 60% of web users who use Google NEVER click on sponsored advertising, according to the world's foremost market research company Nielsen Net Ratings.

Of course, to have the best chance of your site attracting would-be customers, you need to be near the top of the search results for the most popular key phrase(s) that people use in order to find your product or service. It's very much a case of that unless you're on the first page of the results, you might as well be on the last, and there are no prizes for losers!

The top five search results delivered by a search engines in response to a search produce more clicks than all the rest of the results put together, and if you're on the second page, you will hardly ever see a visitor.

This Net Marketing Guide will save you time and money - that's a promise, and I know that some of you will appreciate and benefit from my experience which I'm about to recount to you.

GUIDE TO INTERNET MARKETING

If I am to be your faithful guide to internet marketing then the true story I'm about to tell you will save you a lot of time and money and you'll probably want to thank me for my advice. Why am I sharing this with you? Because I would like you to avoid the experience I had when trying to get my first website into the top 3 on Google.

SEARCH ENGINE SUBMISSION

It all started in the summer of 2004 which was the time when I launched my first website. I had invested in some 'how to' books which told me that the first step was to submit my website to the search engines, an easy enough task which anyone can do for themselves, although I cannot understand why anyone would want to pay for it since there are only 3 major search engines, and even if you include the lesser more important ones that count that only brings it up to around 10.

DON'T waste money paying for a site submission service when you can easily submit your website for inclusion in search engines yourself; it only takes a few minutes, and if you only submit your site to the Google, Yahoo, and MSN you've got most of the internet covered. Few people use the minor search engines. I only use them if I can't find something I'm looking for on the top three!
DON'T submit your website until it is optimised - more on optimisation later. In all likelihood, your site will not appear anywhere where it is likely to be found if you do. Even after 'on page optimisation', my first website was in position 512 (that's on the 52nd page) of Google for my main search phrase! So unless you're in a very small niche market, submitting your site at this stage is a waste of time.

MYTH - some companies tell you that you have to resubmit your site to the search engines at least once a month. I decided to test this claim, submitting my site only once. It not only shot to the top of the search engines, but has remained there ever since. You can read more about more SEO myths, the rubbish that's spouted by people whose only aim is to get your money in their wallet later. I've put a link to the page at the end of this Guide to Internet Marketing.

As I was saying, armed with a bunch of books, I decided to go it alone and get my website to the top of the search engines; I should say at this point that I am probably one of the most stubborn and persistent people that you are ever likely to meet, were this not so, I would never have given up 18 months of my life to achieve a goal that could have been achieved much more expediently by any one of a number of SEO companies.

One and a half years is a long time, so what was I doing during all this time?

ON PAGE OPTIMISATION

Well firstly, I read a lot about what is said about on page optimisation. That's where you alter a web page in a way that it gets indexed correctly and scores a few extra points on the way as far as your key phrases are concerned.

AT LAST MY FIRST BREAKTHROUGH - 512th POSITION!

Having used everything that I could glean from the web optimisation courses I'd subscribed to - you'll find lots on the internet, and from the books I'd bought (there are lots on Ebay and elsewhere on the internet that you can buy), my website at long last appeared in the Google search results; I remember that position to this day when it suddenly appeared at position 512 in the listings for the main key phrase I had targeted. Five hundred and twelfth place - that's the 52nd page for crying out loud!!! I re-checked everything to see if I'd made any mistakes that could account for being so low down in the search results and found nothing; I had followed the instructions to the letter. Was there some kind of conspiracy or something that someone wasn't or maybe couldn't tell me, something that I was missing?

Then one day, (as I was slowly becoming bald with all the stress, or was it hair pulling), I came across a piece of software which was well presented and whose advertising managed to tempt me to part with around £140 if my memory serves me correctly. Along with the software came a little book about search engine optimisation which I ignored, instead getting to know how the software worked, which proved to be a bit of a disaster because the program was full of bugs! I thought only Microsoft sold software that wasn't yet fully functional, guess I was wrong, but at £140 I was sorely disappointed that the thing was full of bugs.

DISCOVERING A LITTLE GEM WITH A BIG PAYOFF

Now, totally disenchanted with the money I'd wasted on software, I decided to give the little book that came with it a try, and boy am I glad that I did! They say that some of the most precious things come in small packages, take a diamond for instance, well this book was everything the other books and courses were not!

Allow me to digress a moment while I draw an appropriate parallel to coming across this little book which will serve to illustrate just what a gem I'd come across!

My whole working life had been spent in sales. Being a salesman and making a reasonable living at it (shouldn't grumble), I regularly treated myself to the occasional book on sales techniques, which after many years in sales mainly served as reminders pointing to what I already knew, that is, until the day that I stumbled upon a book called "What They Don't Teach You at Harvard Business School" - now a title like that is like a red rag to a bull for me, I couldn't resist it.

This book was simply amazing! The author, McCormack, a highly successful billionaire businessman (I guess that that's enough of a reference on his background), uses his literary licence to expound on the principles he used and still uses that have made him what he is today, a highly successful billionaire.

Now I'd read maybe a hundred books on sales over the years, but what this guy was talking about was on another plane, it was something that no other author had expressed, they were his trade secrets, his insights, the very ones that helped him become a billionaire, and what's more, he was sharing those secrets with me.

That book changed my life! It changed my whole approach to sales, and I at least doubled if not tripled my income in a very short span of time.

Now that I know how much extra income that book has made me over the years, I would gladly have paid £5,000 for it and without batting an eyelid - if that had been the asking price and I knew what it would do for me. Thank you Mr. McCormack, and may you be blessed with ever increasing wealth over and above the almost obscene wealth you already possess for sharing your secrets with me and helping me to increase my income so radically.

Now back to the book that came with the seo computer program I'd purchased. That book was in every respect on a par with McCormack's book on sales, the only difference being the subject matter that it deals with, namely Search Engine Optimisation, SEO!

That book, whose title shall remain a secret for the present (I don't need any competition whilst I finish my own book that I'm writing) will present everything I learnt from this little gem together with other discoveries that I've made and which I'll mention later on. If such a book would interest you and to help me test the market, if you would like to reserve a copy then click here and I'll notify you once it is available and offer you a discount for helping me - no payment is required at this time. (Clicking on this link will open the reservation form in a separate window so you won't lose your place.)

Using the information in the 'little book' served to propel my first website onto the fifth page in the search results on Google, a vast difference from the other books I'd been using, and that's without a single inbound link. Inbound links are links on other websites that take those who click on them to your website i.e. they are inbound to your website.

I think that this might be a good time for a coffee break, or tea break if you're English, so put the kettle on and when you get back click here to read about the next part of my journey where I made a very important discovery which propelled my first website into 2nd position in Google, 1st in Yahoo, and 1st in MSN for a search term that renders 12 million results!
