SEARCH ENGINE ALGORITHMS

Search Engine Algorithms are the individual and unique formulae which search engines use in determining the order in which websites are displayed in the search results for each keyword and key phrase input into the search bar of each engine. To complicate matters, the search engine algorithm differs between search engines and can change suddenly without notice.

If the formula used by Google, for example, was known 'exactly' - it seems like common sense to assume that it would be easy to position a website at the top of the list of sites found under any keyword and key phrase simply by following the search engine algorithm.

GOOGLE ALGORITHM

A lot is known about how the Google Algorithm works, fortunately, because a lot of it is works as could be guessed by most people.

For example, the Google Algorithm places a value (although exactly what value is not known) on links pointing to a website from another website.

The Yahoo Algorithm is distinctly different from the one Google uses.
